Survivor Tales: Eye Over Houston

Several years ago, local comics artist David Lasky and I created this comic book about Michelle, a real-life survivor of Hurricane Ike that struck Texas in 2008. We offer it now as we’re collectively thinking of those affected by Hurricane Harvey as part of National Emergency Preparedness month. Even though we don’t have hurricanes here, Michelle has plenty of insights on how we can be ready for other emergencies when there’s no electricity, especially for those who depend on power for medical needs.

Read more Survivor Tales comic books and learn what else you can do to be ready for emergencies.  Read “Acts of Nature are Public Health Emergencies” to find out what we’re doing to prepare for disasters, in light of Hurricane Harvey, and also more on what steps to take to prepare for any kind of hazard if you have medical needs.
