Masks required at large outdoor gatherings in King County, strongly recommended in other outdoor settings

King County, like much of the nation, is in the midst of a surge in COVID-19 cases driven by the highly contagious Delta variant. Therefore, Public Therefore, Public Health – Seattle & King County is issuing a Local Health Officer Order that requires face masks at any outdoor event with 500 or more people in attendance. This requirement applies to all vaccinated and unvaccinated people, 5 years of age and older.

This virus is significantly nastier than previous COVID-19 viruses, and it’s challenging us in new ways. The bottom line: vaccines offer excellent protection against hospitalization and death from Delta. But if you aren’t vaccinated, you are more likely to be infected, hospitalized or die from COVID-19.
